A WordPress plugin by J36 Digital

PressEdge

Edit in WordPress. Deliver at the edge.

PressEdge is a WordPress plugin that publishes your site as fast, secure static pages on Bunny.net's global network. Keep editing exactly as you do now; PressEdge does the rest.

About

What is PressEdge?

PressEdge is a WordPress plugin from J36 Digital. It builds a static HTML copy of your website and serves it from Bunny.net's global network, while WordPress carries on as the private place where you do your editing.

You keep the editor, the plugins and the workflow you already know. Your visitors get a lightweight copy that doesn't need WordPress to answer every single page view.

How it works

From edit to edge

01

Edit as normal

Work in WordPress on a private editing address, with Elementor or whatever builder you already use. Nothing about how you write or design changes.

02

PressEdge builds

Save a page and PressEdge turns it into plain static HTML, mirroring the images, scripts, styles and linked PDFs that go with it.

03

Sent to Bunny

The finished pages are uploaded to Bunny Edge Storage and the cache is cleared, so the new version replaces the old one.

04

Visitors get the copy

Your real domain points at Bunny, so visitors are served the static pages. Forms and comments are sent back to WordPress.

In plain terms: your visitors see the static copy, and WordPress stays behind the scenes as your editing site.

Benefits

Why go static?

Quicker

Visitors get ready-made pages from Bunny's network, instead of waiting for WordPress and PHP to build each one on the spot.

Safer

Visitors never reach WordPress. Lock the editing site down and the public gets a 403, while wp-admin, login and REST keep working for you.

Steadier

The live copy is served from Bunny, so a busy or briefly unavailable WordPress site doesn't take your public pages down with it.

Lighter

Your hosting no longer answers every page view, so it has much less to do and more room for the editing you actually need.

Features

What it does for you?

Publishes itself

Save a page and PressEdge rebuilds and publishes it for you, with no button to press. Prefer to stay in control? There's a manual mode under Troubleshooting.

Guided set-up

A wizard creates your Bunny storage and pull zone, attaches your domain, sorts the certificate, forces HTTPS and handles the www and non-www redirect.

Forms keep working

Elementor forms still submit to WordPress, with PressEdge keeping their security tokens fresh on the static pages.

Comments still work

Comments are posted back to the editing site and appear on the live page within a few minutes.

Redirects carried over

Your Rank Math redirects are published to the edge, so old links still land in the right place on the static site.

Search engine files

Robots.txt, sitemaps and a custom 404 page are built with your live domain, and the backend editing site tells search engines to keep away.

Custom post types

Portfolios, services and other custom post types are crawled along with their archive pages, and a sitemap safety net catches anything missed.

Overview and activity log

See the static site's status and Bunny traffic stats without leaving WordPress. A filterable activity log shows what PressEdge did and when, and copies out for support in one click.

Safe by design

Your Bunny credentials are stored encrypted, and the editing site can be locked down so the public can't reach it.

Elementor-aware crawling

Popups, mobile menus, lightboxes, icon fonts and the other bits Elementor only loads when needed are found and published, so the static site behaves like the editing one.

Quick, incremental publishing

Only the files that changed are uploaded, several at a time, and the edge cache is cleared when it's done so visitors see the new version.

Signed updates

Updates are checked before they install, and PressEdge refuses any it can't verify as genuine.

Requirements

What you need, and what to know

What you need

WordPress with pretty permalinks switched on

PHP 8.3 or newer

A Bunny.net account

Works with Elementor, and tested on LiteSpeed hosting

Worth knowing

WooCommerce and Bookly are on the Roadmap.

Anything that needs a server for each visitor, such as site search or member areas, can't be static.

FAQ

Common questions

Do I still edit in WordPress?

Yes. Same editor, same plugins, same dashboard. The only difference is that it lives at a private address and visitors see the static copy.

What about contact forms?

They still submit to WordPress. PressEdge keeps Elementor forms' security tokens fresh so they work on the static pages.

What if WordPress goes down?

The live site is served from Bunny's network, not your hosting, so visitors still get the last published copy while WordPress is busy or being updated.

Is it open source?

Yes, it's released under the GPLv2. PressEdge started as a fork of the open-source Static Porter plugin, and we're happy to credit it. Updates arrive on the normal WordPress Updates screen, and PressEdge refuses any it can't verify as genuine.
